Radio Disney has taken WHKT/1650 Chesapeake silent and requested to do the same for WRJR/1010 Portsmouth. The owners have asked the FCC for authority to remain silent while the stations are sold off.

The Radio Disney outlet has been off the air since Saturday, Jaunary 23. "Christian Talk Radio 1010" WRJR remains on the air since it has been LMA-ing the station to Chesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting Corp (CPBC) -- the potential new owners. No word yet what CPBC will put on WHKT/1650.

Coincidently (?), WHKT has been off the air the past several days...

Sweet Briar College is selling its WNRS/89.9 to Stu-Comm. The station simulcasts Stu-Comm's Modern Rock/Triple A WNRN/91.9 Charlottesville except three hours Monday thru Thursday during school session. The College gets 25% of the gross revenues collected from WNRS' coverage area as long as the buyer owns the station and gets one seat on Stu-Comm's Board of Directors...

:// Cuts at LIN TV duopoly

The LIN TV duopoly in Hampton Roads, WAVY-TV10/NBC Portsmouth and WVBT 43/FOX Virginia Beach, axed several positions Wednesday.

Gone are David Seals (Assistant News Director) and Kelly Welsh ("10 On Your Side" Producer) whose positions were eliminated and Judy Triska (Promotion Director) was let go. LIN is seeking a replacement for Triska's job.

We also hear that one of the duopoly's promotions producers is leaving at the end of the month.
